How do I care for my candle?

Candle care cards are sent with every order! Please refer to our candle care instructions below:

  • The first time you burn your candle, allow it to burn long enough so that the wax melts all the way to the edge of the glass (at least 2 hours).
  • Trim your wick to 1/4"-1/2" before each use.
  • Burn for a maximum of 4 hours at a time.
  • Always keep the candle away from children and pets.
  • Discontinue use when 1/4" of wax remains at the bottom. A live flame without any wax can cause the jar to explode and shatter from the heat.

Why is my candle tunneling?

Soy wax has a memory! Normally, candle "tunneling" occurs when the wax did not melt to the edges of the glass on the first burn and prevents the wax from melting evenly in future uses. The first use of your candle is important for how your candle performs in future burns. To prevent tunneling, please ensure the candle wax melts to the edges of the glass before extinguishing.

Why does my wick have a thick "mushroom" shape after burning?

Wick "mushrooming" is a common occurrence when burning your candle for extended periods and is a result of carbon buildup. We recommend trimming the wick to 1/4"-1/2" between burnings. Please only burn your candle for a maximum of 4 hours at a time.

Why is my candle bumpy/rough at the top after burning?

Rough tops after burning is a common feature of soy wax candles and is even a way to show that the candle is made of all natural soy wax! This will not affect your candles performance.

How do I upcycle my vessel after it burns down?

The best way to remove remaining wax from your vessel is the hot water method. Place your candle on a protective surface like a dish towel or pot holder. Pour boiling water into the vessel, leaving an inch of space at the top. Let the vessel cool completely before removing the wax. Remove the wax in the trash and strain the water in the sink. Avoid getting wax bits into the sink as it will clog the drain. Remove the wick with some tweezers or something similar. Clean the vessel with soap and it is now ready to be reused!
